Principal's Message

Dear Students, Parents and Guardians:

May is here which means we are coming into the final two months of school.  May will be busy at TMS.  Our Grade 8 students will be writing Provincial Literacy and Math Assessments.  The annual MORE run will be held on May 8th and we have Softball teams participating in league play.

The Celtic Family of Schools is pleased to be partnering with the YMCA Big Cove Outdoor Center to offer an exciting opportunity for students and teachers in Grade 6 to extend their learning beyond their classrooms by participating in a camp experience at Big Cove Outdoor Center.  Our Grade 6 students will be going to the Big Cove Camp from May 27th to May 28th. This wonderful learning opportunity will provide opportunities for development in spirit, body and mind.

As we head into the final months of school, parents and students are reminded that it is important  to remain focused on doing what is needed to be successful. Parents can help by ensuring their child/children are attending school.  Students need to continue to attend class and be prepared by having assignments and class work completed and ready to focus their attention and efforts in class to ensure they learn and achieve to the best of their abilities.

Our Grade 8 class trip plans are well underway.  Parents/Guardians are reminded that the final payment for the trip is due on May 3rd.  The balance owing (if any, after fundraising is calculated) will be due on May 31st.  Our fundraising activities to date, have been very successful.  Your participation in all of these fundraising events is very much appreciated.

Shawn George with Active Pictou County is offering a lunchtime program for our grade seven and eight students.  This program will run from April 24th—May 29th.  The aim of the program is to offer physical activity to youth in the community in a fun and safe environment.  The program will offer indoor/outdoor games in structured and unstructured environments along with some game specific activities.  We are very fortunate to have this program made available to our students free of charge.

A huge thank you to the Trenton Middle School Home and School.  They offered a Prize Bingo Fundraiser on Sunday, April 14th that was a great success.  They also held a flower basket fundraiser.  Pick-up day for flower baskets will be Thursday, May 9th from 5:00—7:00 p.m. at the Trenton Elementary School Gymnasium.

As always, please contact the school with any questions or concerns that you may have.
